Sabermos a que dist\u00e2ncia os m\u00fasculos, as c\u00e1psulas articulares ou o peri\u00f3steo est\u00e3o da pele, de forma a eleger o adequado tamanho de agulha;<br \/>\nNo\u00e7\u00e3o de <strong>Rela\u00e7\u00e3o das estruturas anat\u00f3micas<\/strong>. Saber a localiza\u00e7\u00e3o das estruturas a tratar e\/ou estimular, quer estas sejam nervos, m\u00fasculos, articula\u00e7\u00f5es e ossos; a proximidade destas estruturas n\u00e3o vitais \u00e0s estruturas vitais, como v\u00edsceras tor\u00e1cicas ou abdominais, vasos sangu\u00edneos e at\u00e9 estruturas do Sistema Nervoso Central, que possam ser agredidas gravemente com uma punctura mal executada.<br \/>\nNo\u00e7\u00e3o de <strong>Punctura Segura<\/strong>. Saber utilizar sempre as duas m\u00e3os na palpa\u00e7\u00e3o e punctura dos tecidos dos nossos doentes. Saber utilizar a m\u00e3o n\u00e3o dominante de modo a que esta consiga estabilizar os tecidos a tratar e assim n\u00e3o permitir que a agulha saia do seu local ideal de tratamento. Saber puncturar numa orienta\u00e7\u00e3o segura, de modo a n\u00e3o permitir que a agulha deslize ou se aproxime de estruturas vitais, localizadas fora das \u00e1reas em tratamento.<\/p>\n<p>Estas simples no\u00e7\u00f5es s\u00e3o algumas das mais importantes a ter em conta. A Acupuntura \u00e9 uma t\u00e9cnica segura desde que executada por um profissional de sa\u00fade devidamente treinado e desde que se cumpram os crit\u00e9rios considerados adequados para uma pr\u00e1tica segura. Knowing at what distance the target muscles, nerves or periosteum are from the skin, in order to adequately choose the needle size.<br \/>\nThe notion of <strong>Proximity to other anatomical structures<\/strong>. Knowing the location of the non vital structures that will be stimulated and treated like nerves, muscles and joints; their proximity to the vital ones, like thoracic or abdominal organs, vessels and structures of the Central Nervous System, and also knowing that they might be injured with a badly executed technique.<br \/>\nThe notion of <strong>Safe Needling<\/strong>. Know how to use both hands on palpation and needling of our patients. Know how to stabilize the patients tissue with your non dominant hand so that our needles don&#8217;t move to some unsafe areas of the body of our patients.<br \/>\nNeedling in a safe manner so that our needles don&#8217;t puncture or deviate to vital anatomical areas that may cause serious injuries.<\/p>\n<p>These simple notions are some of the most important ones for us to have while practicing safe needling.<br \/>\nAcupuncture is a safe technique, as long as it is practiced by a properly trained health professional and that all safety rules are always in mind and in practice.<br \/>\nWhen obtained in an 8 to 16 hour Acupuncture course over the weekend!!!<br \/>\nIt takes many years of proper learning in highly skilled, anatomy based and properly structured Post Graduation courses, as well as safe practice of Acupuncture, to get the adequate tool set for us to feel safe practicing this technique.<br \/>\nCourses that are not based in anatomy, physiology, neuro-anatomy and neuro-physiology, referred pain and myofascial trigger points and syndromes, among other concepts, will probably not give the practicioner the notions discussed previously that will make him\/her a
